Situated at an elevation of 5,200 ft on the Trikuta Mountains, the Holy Cave of Vaishno Devi is nearly 14 km from the base camp at Katra. Jammu

Jammu is the winter capital of the Jammu and Kashmir and also known as it has many temples and shrines. Jammu is known for its landscapes, Dogra culture, ancient temples, Raghunath temple, museums, gardens and forts. Pilgrims intend to visit Vaishno Devi reach Jammu via train or air first, as Katra doesn’t have any air or rail connectivity. Katra is 50 kms from Jammu.

Patni Top

One of the beautiful hill stations in the Jammu region, Patni Top is famous for its picturesque surroundings and activities like skiing, trekking as well as water springs make it a popular tourist destination. Sanasar, located 17 kms from Patni Top, is also popular for paragliding base, golf courses along with extended sightseeing options. Patni Top is 80 kms from Katra.

Mansar

Mansar is a beautiful lake sounded by forest-covered hills with its length more than a mile. Apart from being a popular excursion destination in Jammu region, it also has provision for boating for which adequate facilities are provided by the J&K Tourism. Mansar is a holy site as well, sharing the legend and sanctity of Lake Mansarovar. There are ancient temples on the lake side, which are often visited by devotees in large numbers. Mansar is located just 60 km from Jammu.

Batote

Located at a distance of 125 kms from Jammu and situated at an altitude of 1,560 m, Batote is a resort town perched on the forested slopes of the Patnitop mountain range, overlooking the spectacular Chenab gorge. This place is a very well developed tourist resort with lots of commercial activity and facilities. The region is famous for its pleasant weather during summer and its all surrounded greenery. This place is approximately 15 km beyond Patnitop on the National Highway.

Jhajjar Kotli

Blessed with extreme natural beauty, Jhajjar Kotli is a beautiful resort town located just 16 km from Katra and is one of the most favored picnic spots of the state. The main attraction of this beautiful tourist place is the clear and refreshing cool water of Jujjar. To facilitate the tourists, there is a wonderful tourist bungalow in Jhajjar Kotli maintained by J&K tourism.

Kud

Situated 106 km from Jammu, this popular resort is situated on the Jammu-Srinagar highway, at an altitude of 1,738 metres. Kud is an ideal picnic spot as this place has a pleasant weather. Heavy woolens are required in winters while as light/medium clothing is required in summers. A well developed hill station in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, Kud is one of most visited destination in the state.

Baba Dhansar

The Baba Dhansar temple deity is Lord Shiva. Situated at 15 kmsfrom Katra, the place has a big spring coming out  from the rocks in a large group of trees. The milky water forms a number of small cascading waterfalls. These small waterfalls flows into the Holy channel that merges with the Chenab River. The Shivlinga in Baba Dhansar is natural and has water droplets falling over it whole year.
