However the best months to partake in pilgrimage are from March to October as the region is devoid of snow and the natural beauty is at its peak. Weather in Vaishno Devi remains pleasant in summer months and receives snowfall during winters.

The summer season at Vaishno Devi is from March to July. The weather in summer is cool and pleasant and most of the pilgrims visit the Vaishno Devi shrine during this period.

Vaishno Devi in Monsoons (August-September)
The monsoon season at Vaishno Devi is from August to September. In monsoons, the region is medium to heavy rainfall and it is not advisable to go the shrine as mud slides are common. However, natural beauty is at its best.

Vaishno Devi in Winters (October-February)
The winter season at Vaishno Devi is from October to February. The weather in winter is characterized by sub-zero level temperature and snowfall is common. The harsh temperature makes the pilgrimage difficult; however, the shrine still sees pilgrims visiting the Holy Cave during the winters as well.

The weather in the month of January is freezing cold with temperature dropping below zero. The holy temple of Vaishno Devi remains snow bound during this month and might be difficult for travelling. However, devotees do visit the temple at this time also. For this season, heavy woolens are highly recommended. Tourists planning to take kids or old people along should be extra careful.

The weather in February is still freezing cold with temperature dropping below zero. The climate continues to be cold and this might not be the perfect time for visiting the temple. This is not the tourists’ season so it will be very less crowded with snowfall continuing as usual.
